Nix The New Years Resolutions - Do This Instead!

Happy New Year!

Instead of the typical New Year’s resolutions, may I suggest you make it your goal this year to read a good book? Here are a few of my favorites from last year to help get you started.

Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

A shame-free plan for embracing and achieving your goals. This was my favorite book all year. The chapter, “Choose One Dream and Go All In”, was read over and over…reminding me to FOCUS. Rachel has a way of getting down to the REAL of things. She encourages us to be honest with ourselves, stop making excuses, and really become what we desire. This year I am reading her first book, Girl, Wash Your Face, and it is just as inspiring.

Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer. This book is not a philosophy about prayer. Rather, it is a practical guide to how to get to doing it! Many of us don’t know how to pray, so we simply avoid it. Talking to our God should be as simple as talking to a friend. It needn’t be formal, but it should be strategic. Find a purpose for your prayers in this book.

Stress Less, Accomplish MORE by Emily Fletcher

Meditation for extraordinary performance by the founder of Ziva Meditation. This book was written to business people, to help them learn how to meditate to relieve stress. It is a practical guide, without some of the “woo-woo” found in other books on meditation. With this simple guide, anyone can learn to meditate! She includes information on studies of how meditation has been proven to work. You may have a skewed view of what meditation actually is, so give this book a chance, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Do Less by Kate Northrup                                                                                        A revolutionary approach to time and energy management for busy moms. In this book, Kate shares a lot from her personal experience in balancing having a new baby and running a business. As women, we do experience life differently than men. It is important to understand how our cycle effects our productivity and to learn to celebrate our femininity. This book could change how you look at your life and work. If you feel like you are drowning in the everyday with too much to do…read this one first.

In this #1 New York Times Bestseller, Gabrielle shares lessons to help you grow spiritually. Learn how to relinquish the need to control and relax into a sense of certainty and freedom. May you have a Blessed New Year!
